Why Closure Is So Hard to Find
Closure is one of those things people often go searching for, but very rarely find in the way they expect. We imagine it as a conversation, an apology, or an explanation that suddenly makes everything make sense. We tell ourselves that if the other person would just answer one last question or finally explain why things happened the way they did, we'd be able to move on. Sometimes that's true. More often, it isn't.
One thing I've noticed is that people don't usually struggle because they don't have enough information. They struggle because they don't like the information they already have. Silence is information. Distance is information. Inconsistency is information. The absence of an answer is often an answer in itself. That doesn't mean it's the answer we wanted, and that's where closure becomes so difficult.
As human beings, we're wired to look for patterns and complete unfinished stories. It's why we remember songs that stop halfway through. It's why we keep thinking about conversations that ended awkwardly. It's why breakups without explanation, ghosting, or relationships that slowly fade away can stay in our minds for months or even years. The mind doesn't like unfinished business, so it keeps trying to finish the story.
That's when the questions begin. What if I'd said something different? Did they ever really love me? Will they come back? Did I misunderstand everything? The problem is that some questions simply don't have answers we can verify. We end up trying to solve an emotional puzzle with pieces that don't exist, and the more we search, the more exhausted we become.
I've seen this countless times through tarot readings. People often come to me believing they need to know what someone else is thinking so they can finally move on. But as we explore the reading together, it often becomes clear that what they're really looking for isn't information. They're looking for permission to let go. That's a very different thing.
Tarot can be incredibly helpful during moments like these because it encourages us to look beyond the other person's actions and back towards ourselves. Instead of becoming trapped in endless questions about someone else's intentions, the cards often reveal our own emotional patterns, what we're holding onto, what we've learned, and where our energy is being spent. Sometimes the most helpful question isn't, "Why did they do that?" It's, "Why am I still carrying it?" That shift in perspective often creates far more healing than another round of speculation ever could.
Pendulum guidance can also help when people feel emotionally suspended between different possibilities. One moment they're convinced they should move on. The next they're wondering whether to wait a little longer. That uncertainty can become exhausting because it leaves you feeling unable to fully commit to either path. Sometimes a little guidance is enough to quiet the constant back-and-forth and help you feel more settled in your own thinking.
Spellwork often has an important place here too. Many people assume spellwork is only about bringing people back together, but that's only one small part of it. Some of the most meaningful spiritual work focuses on healing, releasing emotional attachments, rebuilding confidence, creating protection, or opening new opportunities. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do isn't trying to hold on to what has gone. It's creating space for what comes next.
I've also found that closure isn't usually a single moment. It's rarely one conversation that suddenly fixes everything. More often, it happens gradually. It happens when you stop replaying the same questions every day. When you stop expecting different answers from people who've already shown you who they are. When you begin accepting that not every chapter of your life will have a neat ending. That isn't giving up, it's making peace with reality.
Ironically, that's often when people begin to feel free again. Not because every question has been answered, but because they no longer need every answer in order to move forward. Life becomes lighter when you stop carrying questions that no one else can answer for you.
Closure isn't the moment everything suddenly makes sense.
It's the moment you realise you don't need it to.
